History
In August of 2003, People Enriching Empowering People Services Housing Corporation 501 c 3 was founded by Lester B. Jordan & Kenyetta M. Peoples to fulfill the need of establishing a mentoring program for urban children & youth. The two shared about a vision regarding working with the young people the community. P.E.E.P.S operated for 2 years before becoming incorporated. The organization became incorporated in 2005. In the beginning, the program operated out of New Greater Bethlehem Temple Church of Detroit. After a year, the church moved to Inkster, MI, which caused a major conflict for the participants of the program. They truly understood that location was important to the success of the program. Program Coordinator Maria Peoples came on board and added a genuine touch to the planning and development process. She was instrumental in seeking the perfect location. St. Suzanne Faith & Friendship of Detroit became the new location for the operation. Today the program operates out of three locations St. Suzanne Faith & Friendship Center & Leland Baptist and Akron, Ohio. In 2006 Kenyetta Peoples & Monique Clark of Akron, Ohio created a National Alliance to promote financial literacy and entrepreneurship. The Ohio Region is called Intelligent Mature Adolescents Getting Educated I. M. A. G. E. The organization has recently become a Supplemental Educational Services provider for the entire state of Ohio. |
